Hello! My name is Melissa Skinner. I am a North Vancouver Dentist proudly working in the lower Lonsdale area just a few blocks from Lonsdale Quay and the seabus.
I graduated in 2006 from the University of British Columbia in Dentistry. Following my graduation, I moved to the Okanagan to work for a few years. I greatly enjoyed living in this part of British Columbia; however, family drew me back to North Vancouver. After working at two different dental offices, I found my permanent professional home here on the shore in North Vancouver– at Third Street Dental. I work along side the wonderfully talented, Dr. Gail Landsberger.
So why write a blog?? I would like to share my knowledge in a fun and accessible way; and most importantly, be more connected to my patients and my community. I want my patients to feel welcome to ask me questions regarding oral health. Further I hope my dental knowledge will inspire you towards a healthy mouth.
Dentistry is evolving at a tremendous rate and I feel that dentists should stay current. Thus, I spend much of my free time reading and training towards dental excellence. Staying on top of the latest and greatest techniques and procedures is important and I’m really looking forward to sharing that information with you. I am 100% committed to lifelong learning in my career.
My dental approach is based on quality and lasting dentistry. I believe in using the safest and strongest dental materials. I also use one of the top dental laboratories for excellence in crown and bridge dentistry.
I include safe filing replacement in my practice.
I love what I do and feel very fortunate to be working in beautiful North Vancouver. I live close to the dental office with my husband, and 3 year old Labrador (Maggie). I enjoy hiking the gorgeous North Vancouver trails on the weekend. I actually see many of my patients when I’m out in the trees with our loyal four-legged friends! I love to cook, participate in yoga, and travel when I can.
